  1. VRweb 1.0 Beta 4

  4. This is the Win32s version of VRweb a VRML browser for Microsoft Windows 3.x, 
  5. Windows 95 without native OpenGL support, and Windows NT 3.1.
  6.  
  7. VRweb is a joint project between IICM (Hyper-G team), NCSA (mosaic), and the
  8. Gopher team.
  9.  
  10. Installation:
  11. =============

  13. If you have not installed Win32s yet please install it before runing VRweb:
  14. Get the Zip archieve win32s. Unzip them and run Setup. If you don't have WinG 
  15. on your system (Error could not find WinG32.dll) please get wing10.zip unpack
  16. it and run setup.

  18. To install VRweb create a directory and unzip the archive with 
  19.  
  20. unzip vrw_win
  21.  
  22. Then you can create an icon in the Program Manager. In a later version we
  23. will supply an install program.
  24.  
  25. To install VRweb with Mosaic 2.00:
  26.  
  27. Get a VRML scene from your prefered sever. Mosaic asks you whether to save the
  28. file to disk or to configure a viewer. Select to configure a viewer and 
  29. another dialog appears. Press the browse button and select VRweb at the location 
  30. you did put it to. Press OK and Mosaic is configured for use with VRweb.

  32. Configuration with Netscape is analogous.

  34. System requirements:

  37. To use VRweb you should have an 486-50 and 8 MB of memory or better. If
  38. rendering is slow use as interactive mode wireframe (Menue Rendering-
  39. Interactive-Wireframe)

  44. Because of being Beta some features are not implemented yet (but will in near 
  45. future):

  47. * No network support (hyperg, http)

  49. INI-file options:

  52. The UseTrueColor option in the INI file defines use of true color displays. In this
  53. version true color is very slow. UseTrueColor is 0 on default (1 = on). With InitialMode
  54. you can define the initial rendering mode of VRweb (0 = wireframe 4 = texture). 
  55. InteractiveMode sets the initial quality switchback mode. Standard is smooth shading for
  56. rendering and wireframe for switch back (interactive mode).
